Homemade Manuka Honey Cough Syrup

4 natural ingredients that you should have on hand in your kitchen to make a simple homemade Manuka Honey Cough Syrup when you feel the first signs of a seasonal cold coming.

Homemade Manuka Honey Cough Syrup

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water
  • 8 Tbs. chopped, fresh thyme
  • 1 cup  Manuka Doctor Manuka honey
  • Optional: 4-6 slices of fresh Ginger

Directions: 

  1. Put the water in a small saucepan over medium heat and let it come to a boil.
  2. Remove boiling water from heat, add thyme (& Ginger slices if using) , and steep for at least 10 minutes.
  3. Pour in the Manuka honey and stir until thoroughly dissolved.
  4. Pour mixture into an airtight, glass jar, and store in the fridge.
  5. Strain before using / 2 teaspoons each time throat is feeling irritated.

Optional Addition if enjoy the flavour: 4-6 slices of fresh Ginger

Storage:

  • Good for three weeks if refrigerated
