Manuka Honey Cinnamon Baked Apple Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 large apples (red)
  • 4 tbsp Manuka Doctor honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash the apples and remove the cores, leaving about 1/2 inch at the bottom of each apple to create a well for the filling. Use a small paring knife or an apple corer for this step.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the Manuka Doctor honey, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, chopped nuts, and raisins or dried cranberries (if using). Mix well.
  4. Place the cored apples in a baking dish. Spoon the honey mixture into the center of each apple, packing it in tightly.
  5. Pour the apple juice or water into the bottom of the baking dish to help keep the apples moist during baking.
  6. Place a small piece of butter on top of each filled apple.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and easily pierced with a fork.
  8. Remove the apples from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Drizzle any remaining juice from the baking dish over the apples for extra flavor.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve the baked apples warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
  • For a healthier option, enjoy them with a spoonful of Greek yogurt.
